My sweet Elsa, I mean Libby! You may recognize this bombshell blonde from our feed. She's a popular canvas round these parts.⁠
⁠
She rocked some strawberry blonde extensions for six months or so, has routinely been mint green, baby blue, and of course Elsa white. But she'd been wearing her hair au-naturale for a good two years and she was getting some serious bleach withdrawals!⁠
⁠
So four hours, three applications and half a bag of lightener later, and a whole lotta Olaplex, we've all but gotten her perfectly white blonde again; just as the universe intended. ⁠
⁠
Some areas lightened up faster than others, so I carefully rinsed the bleach, applied pH balancer and reapplied. You wouldn't think those already lightened ends would be the stubborn wild card that they were, but they will have to complete their journey next month. You can only bleach so much in a day and maintain the integrity of the hair. ⁠
⁠
Libby will have to return on a strict 4-5 week maintenance schedule to avoid banding and she'll deep condition with a platinum color conditioner mixed especially for her. ⁠

And all she kept saying as she watched the transformation was "I feel so pretty!!!" ⁠

What is it about the mullet that gave it such a bad rep? And what exactly is the difference between a mullet and a shag? ⁠⁠

Spelling mostly. I suppose you could say the shag is "mullet light", slightly less dramatic of a transition in length between the sides and back, if you want to get technical. But let's be real, the Shag is the gateway drug to the Mullet. ⁠⁠

For as long as I can remember, I've approached life with a "cautiously optimistic" attitude. Fearful that if I celebrated any wins too soon, I'd be jinxing myself. ⁠

What if, the universe saw all that caution as rejection? What if the message I was sending was "I don't want that success you're granting me" instead of manifesting "MORE PLEASE, that tastes great!"⁠

Instead of celebrating a ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐star review (or 50) or a great week with a board FULL of new guest names, I'd focus on the one guest I didn't make fawn all over herself when I took the cape off. Or I looked at that full board and busy four styling chairs with hesitation; just HOPING that continues next week. ⁠

What an idiot. I hear you, Universe, finally. It only took the better part of 46 years and I can't say I'm cured. But I do solemly swear to accept these gifts and throw caution to the wind in my optimism henceforth!⁠

A lot of people might not understand the basic principles of color theory unless they use the color wheel for their job or hobby. I remember taking art in school and learning how color works, but when I began my journey in the beauty industry, I got to see firsthand how important it is to know and understand color. ⁠⁠

This color correction I did is the perfect example of complementary colors (red + green) - a time consuming project, but a fun one that resulted in something beautiful.⁠⁠

Color needs a blank canvas in order to shine and perform to its full potential. My biggest challenge in this transformation was definitely trying to create that perfect blank canvas for this gorgeous bright red. Overall, I think my hard work paid off...lemme know what you think!!!⁠⁠

If you’ve been getting highlights for awhile and

If you’ve been getting highlights for awhile and you’re feeling like you’re still lacking dimension.. this one’s for you.⁠

To have dimension, there must be a contrast of colors. There has to be some darkness (depth) in order for your highlights to pop. Without this, all the lightness will blend together and can even make your hair appear dry or dull. A quick way to avoid this is highlight placement, of course, and in some cases, perhaps a lowlight.⁠

If you swipe, you can see how my client’s before photo was starting to ppl lack definition and dimension. The contrast of those highs and lows aren’t there. In the after photo, you can see we added some depth back in to give her fresh highlights something to stand out against. This creates a softer, more natural look overall and it will have people questioning where you get your hair done or whether you even get it done at all. You’ll look that good 😌⁠

I have coveted the look of a Rock and Roll Mullet for nearly a decade. But every time I'd grow my hair out, I just couldn't achieve the look! ⁠

If I can't grow a mullet, I'll make one instead! This was a 16" wavy Bellami Extensions Weft that Danielle installed only in the back and then Kendyl razor shredded both the extensions and my natural hair. ⁠

And thus. a Rock Star Mullet was born. ⁠

There was A LOT of hair on the floor. But sometimes you just have to be fearless and go for it to get the look you want!⁠

The thing I love about a money piece is how well it frames the face. This is a great look for blondes, as they tend to like looking brightest around their face. Also, totally customizable and unique, they can be bold and chunky or subtle and light. ⁠
